The Town of Queen Creek’s economic development and communication and marketing efforts were recently honored with several awards, most notably Marissa Garnett received the 2023 Young Professional of the Year Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
“Marissa is a dedicated professional who not only brings creative ideas, but also works diligently to implement those ideas,” shared Economic Development Director Doreen Cott. “She has been an asset to our team, the organization and the community for nearly 10 years. Marissa is always willing to help others and is known throughout the region for her passion and drive – she is extremely deserving of this distinguished award.”
Every year IEDC looks specifically for an individual who has demonstrated consistent, exemplary performance in the economic development profession, leading the execution of projects that have a significant impact on revitalizing communities, and playing a major role in shaping and improving the practice of economic development.
IEDC also awarded the Economic Development Team with the Silver Award for the new industrial brochure. The brochure also received the Golden Prospector Award from the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED). The AAED also recognized the industrial website with the Award of Merit.
The documentary “QCPD – the Creation of a Police Department” received a SAVVY award from the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). The documentary was also a nominee for the Rocky Mountain Emmys. The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Phoenix chapter presented the Town with four awards – an award of merit for the 2023 State of the Town, a Copper Anvil Award for the VisitQC website and two Copper Anvils for the Permanent Base Adjustment Education Plan (in the public affairs and integrated communications categories).
